Rewind is a short film that embodies something in which perhaps only moving image language can convey. Made in the depths of our journey through a global pandemic, the film shows myself walking in a series of spirals at low tide, shortly after dawn. The motif and physical action of making and walking in a spiral explore deep rooted sentiments and diverse cultural experiences of how a spiral is one of the omnipresent forms and structures in the natural world. The slow creation of the spiral makes direct contact with a deeply felt and latent energy of the earth and extends into a physical and emotional transcendence and rejuventation, protection and healing.
The film invites contemplation and reflection on the nature and passage of time. We are like butterflies, who flutter for day, and think it is for a lifetime.
