Pacific Ocean Horizons
2015. Chinese calligraphy ink and water from the Pacific Ocean on paper. 139cm x 125cm. 6 drawings in series, signed on verso. Drawings produced in the Pacific Ocean, Taiwan.
The ancient medium of the ink is revealed through a meditative process with the subject and time of the ocean, where the subject and medium are mystically integrated as one. After weeks of watching the Pacific Ocean horizons, a field of paper is placed above ground in that beautiful liminal space between land and ocean. While meandering a zen frame of mind and following a meditative trance induced motion, horizon lines are drawn across this spatial plane, and every now and then, the spatial frame opens up to allow a portal into this parallel world we inhabit.
