1081 Meters Around 285 Million Years
2013. Measuring wheel and inkjet prints. Variable dimensions.
At low tide on the Atlantic Ocean coast of England, a measuring wheel is pulled and pushed around the exposed circumference of a huge mass of granite rock dating back 285 million years. It is felt and imagined, whilst measuring the physical distance around an object/process with an epic age, that something else beyond perception and human understanding is there in that zone of the rock that spends half of its time underwater. That through exploring this mysterious liminal zone where time and space are in a constant flux with one another that something beyond distance might be recorded and surveyed.
